FAQs

What's Life Coaching About?

Life coaching is about results & change!

Simply put- it is deciding what you want, identifying obstacles that are getting in your way and applying practical action based strategies and tools to achieve your desired outcome. MOST of the time, those obstacles are mind based, and so the fun part is working to change the mind which can positively impact all areas of life.

Is it like therapy or counselling?

Coaching differs from counselling, therapy, mentoring and teaching and is in no way a psychological approach, although there is much science behind many of the tools coaches use. The coach approach is knowing that you have the best answers within you, and through powerful questions we unlock those answers. A good explanation of the difference between coaching and counselling/therapy is: counselling looks at where you are and looks in to your past to discuss what got you here. A coach looks at where you are and looks in to the future and helps you come up with a plan to get you there. Coaching is future focused.

Will it work for me?

You must be ready and willing to take action. The responsibility for change falls to you as the client. However, if you are committed to exploring new ideas and taking action, then the possibilities for success are endless.

What will it be like working with you?

I provide you with an opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings around your chosen goal/subject area, which will assist your learning and understanding and develop opportunities for growth. My role as your coach is to support you through this process. I do this without judgement and by holding a safe space for you to think, reflect, discover and grow. When working with you I will show up, be 100% present and focused during our sessions, support whatever shows up in you and serve you powerfully. I will help you get clarity on your goals. I will help you simplify and de-clutter all the thoughts in your mind, uncover your blocks and limiting beliefs and create a powerful mindset. Though I will not give you advice or tell you what to do, with permission, I may offer a thought or suggestion which might stretch your perspective.

What happens in a session?

We have a conversation. I may take some notes and I would encourage you to take some notes too. Sessions last 60 minutes and are either face to face somewhere reasonably quiet to avoid too many distractions, on the phone or remotely via Skype or Zoom. All new or prospective clients get a free 45 min introductory call to see if coaching is for them and if we are a good fit to work together. Often clients get a ‘breakthrough’ in this first call and discover a new way of thinking that can have some real tangible results!
